There's a place called AED motorsports in Indianapolis that sells anything you need. Obviously you can get mild steel tubing locally but I had a hard time finding chromemoly.
I contacted these folks, they had what i wanted, .75 dia x.035 wall chromemoly tubing. Shipped in long cardboard tube. Perfect for subframes at least for a single seat. Might want ticket wall for a 2 seater.
Light, strong, easy to weld... with TIG. I tried with mig and kept burning thru. Couldn't seem to find an adjustment that would be hot enough for penetration but still not blow thru.

Anyway check em out.

Had to replace an exhaust stud but finally got it out and mounted the 2 into 1 yoshi exhaust (its a little beat up but i guess it adds to the cafe racer feel) also got the head light in and mounted ( Still need to do some wiring)
but i think it looks good so far

I think you should consider what a small displacement vertical twin will sound like with loud pipes. That shorty is gonna be loud

Got a couple things done got the sub frame bent to shape, got in the new pipe and also got in the new jet kit to make this thing run like a beast!!
