So Ive been thinking

I want a cafe racer from a Harley so im thinking of buying a sportster as the base. Now im wondering who i Houston and in 5 hour range of us would do custom cafe racer work. Any advice or thoughts?

My advice: If you can't do the work yourself, buy one already built. It'll be cheaper and a whole lot faster.

Valid point. I just don't see many HD Cafe Racers. The work itself idk maybe. Might just stretch it out and make it a long project replace the tank one day. Wait a month or so and replace the wheels. Etc etc.

Just buy a XR1200X or the older XR1200R and you'll be more than half the way there. Keep your mods easily reversible and when the time comes to sell you can return bike to stock, part out the add ons and not lose your shirt.

I love these bikes and one will probably be the only Harley I ever own someday. Only other Harley I lusted after was the Baja 100 back when I was a teenager.

#1 on the XR1200. Too bad Harley quit making them. Awesome ground clearance, no dragging footpegs. The only Harley I ever seriously considered buying.
