Was a very hard slow and painful ride, but think we can clear these trails in a day if we get enough help out there Saturday morning. BTW those trails have been unridden in 4 months and whoops are looking so much better there and soil is compacked, come help us get those pesky fallen trees out so we can ride it again....

SUCCESS on the cleanup of fallen trees on much of the WEST SIDE TRAILS in the SHNF. Lots of grasses grown up on the trails, overgrowth was plentiful, and rutting was happening, but there are no more fallen trees over the trails on Honeymoon, Woodpecker, or Kelley's Pond trails. We knocked that out before lunch with the 40 participants which had 19 sawyers working hard. We then tried to tackle the N Balloon and String, but found we were over matched there with the sheer number of fallen trees on those trails. We made good headway but no where close to getting those trails cleared up. Great bunch of guys and gals showed for this work day and were all willing to do what it took to get these trails back to ridable again. Still need bikes to ride these trails before they will be fast again because of all the growth on and around them, but those fallen tress are gone on many. Over 100+ trees cut off the trails on this job! No injuries! SUCCESS!!!! Hope you guys will be more help next time we have one of these workdays, especially if you like riding the SHNF!
