Maybe he was trying to not get charged for the tolls by trying to ride the lines fast?

I wish they could just scan my plate and hit my cars EZ tag account without having some stupid motorcycle box thing on my bike. But as it stands they never have and I skirt the tolls.

I was issued a box, but I keep it in my jacket pocket. Never had any issues with it not scanning.

They do have that. Log into your HCTRA account and register a temporary vehicle. Just a little info needed, might take 45 seconds total and then you have an EZ Plate for your bike good for up to 45 days. I've been doing that continously for the last 4-5 years.

I have had drivers try to pinch me off even at very low speeds back when I was young enough to lane split. After 39 years of riding I have seen and done some stupid things. Just not worth it to me. But to each his own. I don't think what this guy was doing could be called lane splitting though. Slaloming is more like it.

They can try and do try all the time. Pretty hard to move a car 7 feet sideways at 5 mph though.

I think slalom is a perfect description of the actions I imagine this poor guy doing which I came up with completely on conjecture.

if what Bevo posted is accurate, you would be correct. Lane splitting is done at low speeds when traffic is deadlocked or less than 20 mph. Just don't hate on those of us who do lane split/filter responsibly.

Not hating on you. Go for it. If it was legal here that would be different. Then again, I only ride my bike when and where I know there will be no bumper to bumper.

http://www.khou.com/story/news/traff...lway/32323781/

in this video report by KHOU, the news reporter says that Precinct 5 says this was not a police chase and that the deputy happened to just pull up right after it happened.
Investigators say the bike was stolen ??

Dude must have been really hauling =\ RIP

**EDIT**
Just saw someone posted this link already

"Multiple witnesses tell KHOU 11 News that it looked like someone on a motorcycle was speeding between two lanes of traffic when a driver pulled in front of him to change lanes."

The Westpark tollway is two lanes per direction

Gist is the rider was riding @ an excessive speed for the environment.. wether he was attempting to 'lane split' or not is irrelevant.

So the facts are he was speeding, he was on a stolen bike, he smacked a vehicle, and he died.

Wonder if the bike belong to anyone on the forum...

Speeding and riding wreck less is the two general description of ANY motorcycle related incident, until somebody saw it first hand or a really good coverage takes place, don't believe the media bs, full of lies. Condolences to the families he left behind

So don't believe anyone that talks to the media including eyewitnesses?
