Icon cloverleaf knee sliders?

Has anyone used these? I like the idea behind them but not sure how they workout in real life. Just looking for user experiences.

I wear Knox cross guards which are similar. They are not uncomfortable and are ventilated well enough to be relatively unnoticeable while riding. I cannot say how well they would work for protection though but they have to be better than just blue jeans!
