Dynamo lose early lead in 2-2 draw with Timbers

Lucas Melano's goal in the 86th minute pulled the Portland Timbers into a 2-2 draw with the Houston Dynamo on Friday night.

It was the first MLS goal for the Argentine forward, signed by the Timbers last month, and it extended Portland's unbeaten streak at home to nine games.

Oscar Garcia and Will Bruin each scored in the first half for Houston, which was missing key players because of injury as it fights to stay in playoff contention.

Darlington Nagbe narrowed it with a goal in the 76th minute. Portland has scored 14 of its 28 goals this season in the final 15 minutes. The Timbers are knotted with Sporting Kansas City for third in the Western Conference.
