J.J. Watt has message for Pearland West Little League team

The Little League World Series gets underway on Thursday and Pearland is representing the area yet again. Athletes all around Houston have taken notice and not just over in the Houston Astros clubhouse.

Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt had a message for the Pearland West Little League team Wednesday morning after practice.

"Good luck, go out there and have fun," Watt said about the team from his neighborhood.

"Go out and represent the state of Texas. We'll be watching," Watt said.

"It's cool to have another Pearland team in it this year. It's Texas, so go out there and do big things."

The Pearland West Little League team swept through the Southwest regional tournament in Waco, winning all four of their games and outscoring their opponents 41-7 in their four victories.

They will begin play in Williamsport, Pennsylvania as the United States Southwest representative with a game at 2 p.m. Central Thursday afternoon against a team from Oregon (U.S. Northwest).
