What if the lien is just from towing charges? Might be only a few hundred bucks to have a clear title.

Well I do know that it was crashed at one point in time, can an impound lot put a lien on a bike?

yeah.
If you don't pay the towing and storage fees. If the lien doesn't get taken care of, after a certain amount of time they own it and can sell it.
Same with mechanics. Don't pay your bill and they can file, then own
