Trans-Am Trail

So a buddy and I are looking to "try out" some dirt riding, as we're interested in spending some time on the Trans-Am Trail. Just wondering if anyone here has any experience on there, or if they could point me in the direction of a good place to play around Houston.

I asked in another thread (with no context) about the possibility of taking a sidecar rig through the national forest trails... the reason I was asking was with this trip in mind. After reading around on advrider it sounds like the addition of a third wheel makes a lot of bikes MUCH more capable (if only because you don't have to worry as much about dropping a heavier bike), and I'm thinking since I've already got a car, I'd look into modifying it for this purpose. I'm specifically thinking about a way to carry extra fuel, tires, tools, water/food, a winch, possibly even a way to carry a bike should (one of) the other(s) become disabled.

General thoughts?

ha I was just on the Trans-AM website about 10 minutes ago......looks like it would be fun as !

If you do the MTN Trail that starts in Arkansas through Oklahoma be careful. I just saw some posts on FB that someone was putting metal sheets with spikes in the mud bog sections to give ppl flat tires.
