Right before I clicked the pay button, right above the button it said "renewal fee $25" not "you need to search our website for our payment page, then read the whole thing top to bottom in order to find out what we are about to charge your card"
Any other reputable website will show a itemized sub total page...but that's too much to ask for the government.

What about scooter guys? TMAXX?

Beginning January 12, 2015, any customer who has proof of completion of a department approved motorcycle operator training course, and applies for a Class M restricted to a motor-driven cycle (250 cc’s or less), DOES NOT have to take the motorcycle knowledge test.

The motorcycle drive test is not required for those applying for a moped license.

Well gee, don't you think there would be an option, possibly a box to click, not to renew that portion of it on their website?
I suppose it's in some fine print somewhere that you can call and not renew it for less money...but guess what? The whole thing is nonsense and just a hassle to me anyway, so I went straight to the "here's my money now leave me alone" option and didn't bother reading their whole freaking website. just looking at their website makes me sick!

Should have called them for a real experience...

Phone Renewal
Call 1-866-DL RENEW (1-866-357-3639) to renew by phone. The eligibility requirements for phone renewal are the same as for online renewal.

Actually no, there isn't one...I'm telling you it's up. You enter all your info, It takes you tot he credit card page, you enter that, there's a bold print that says "25 dollar renewal fee" and then you click submit...after that the confirmation page loads and says "Tx.gov price: 33 dollars"

Dude try it. Go through the whole process and just stop at the credit card page and you will see everything I am talking about...well, minus the final total of 33 dollars AFTER they bill your card.

So you didn't want to renew the license you had? Obviously the State's fault.

It's strong evidence of the brainwashing of the populace that so many people will say, "meh, it's only $8, no big deal."

The deal is that the government, in providing services that only they can provide, take the most egotistical, holier-than-thou approach to dealing with the public at large and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it.

The comparison with performance of a private sector entity is perfectly apt - we're talking about beauracratic customer service and the wholly inept way in which the government approaches it - solely because you have no other option - and the administrators of these organizations are just so smug with their "what are you gonna do about it" smile while they put up hoop after hoop for you to jump through and charge service charges on top of their convenience fees for their administrative costs.

It's a racket and an insult to the very people whose taxes provide for it and allow it to go on.

I'll go ahead and chime in before these alleged motorcyclists do

"what do you know, you ride a ba-ba-boooosa and you probably have leds all over it and probably can only ride in a straight line, while we ride R6's yo on Racers Road."
