Just got my drivers license renewed...

33 bucks are you kidding?!

Really 33 dollar is not the issue, it's their website that says it costs 25 dollars with no other info.
They don't show you any totals until you click "run my credit card", then BAM 33 bucks!

Is that extra cash because of the M endorsement?

Yup, plus I believe they pass the credit card fee (the one the bank charges) onto you

A subtotal screen would be nice

Oh well, I guess it's not like you really have much of an option.

Compared to Florida, it's actually not a bad deal. Theirs is every 8 years, but it's 48 bucks...so fifty cents more a year and that's not even with an M endorsement.

Shelly, I know you are a little on the cheap side... BUT there has to be a limit... You can't complain if the difference in cost is less than $10.

I think it's funny that they only charge the extra $8 for a CM (bringing your total to $33) when the motorcycle-only license renewal fee is $33.

Look Shelly, you're not paying extra, your paying regular price for the motorcycle license renewal, and getting a car license renewal FREE!

He claims he isn't cheap. He claims, it's the principal.

It's not really the money, it's the general attitude when you try to give the government money. They barely started accepting credit cards. When they did, there was an additional fee added, unless you go in person there's usually an additional "convenience fee"
The standards have been set so low, you are suggesting that randomly adding 8 dollars onto the bill without showing a subtotal is a good business practice.
If any private company did this kind of (increasing the bill by over 30% AFTER they bill your card) would they remain in business, or even avoid a lawsuit? I think not.

Spoken like a true car salesman.
Do you see what they did there? They rip off the minority, but since it's not you, everyone just looks the other way

Uh, the State of Texas has absolutely no competition for TDL sales. There's no comparison to a business, plus the info is readily available even to lazy Floridians

don't forget what the state does when you buy a used car

you don't pay tax on the sales amount, your tax is determined on how much the state says the car is worth
