Pearland Little League team one game away from World Series

The Pearland West Little League team has only one more game to win to reach the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

The team will play Thursday night in the Southwest Regional Tournament championship game.

If Pearland West wins, it will be the second consecutive year a team from Pearland has gone to the Little League World Series.

"We've been working hard as a team. That's how we've gotten this far and we hope to get further," said Isaac Garcia, a player on the Pearland West team.

They will be playing against a team from Colorado. They have already beaten that team in this tournament 9-1.

"I know they're a good team and I'm sure they're gonna come with their best effort," said Tristan Schwehr, a parent of one of the players on the Pearland team.

Pearland West is undefeated so far. The players say the big support from both the community and their parents really make a difference.

"It's a big deal because I know that they love us and everything, and it helps support us and boost our confidence out there in the game,” said teammate Ryan Farmer.

Coaches said they are also excited for the boys, who have worked so hard.

"I know they want to go to the Little League World Series. I also know they want to miss a week of school," said team manager Andrew Solomon.

The game starts at 6 p.m. Thursday.
