Rockets schedule released, will host Spurs on Christmas Day

The NBA released their 2015-16 NBA schedule on Wednesday. Here are some highlights for the Houston Rockets:

Houston hosts San Antonio on Christmas Day at 7 p.m in a game televised nationally on ESPN. It's the first time the Rockets have ever hosted a Christmas Day game in Houston. (The Rockets hosted one previous Christmas Day game in 1967 when the team was located in San Diego).

The Rockets open the season with the Denver Nuggets visiting Toyota Center on October 28. Houston acquired point guard Ty Lawson via trade from the Nuggets this offseason.

Houston host the defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors, two nights later in the first of only three meetings against the Warriors. Houston makes just one trip to the bay area to face Golden State on February 9, 2016. Houston is initially slated for 19 nationally televised games, including four consecutive games against Cleveland, Chicago, Oklahoma City and Dallas in late March, early April.

The Rockets will play 11 of 13 contests on the road from February 9 to March 12, including a pair of five game road trips.

LeBron James and the Cavaliers make their lone trip to Houston on Jan. 15, 2016 for an 8:30 national broadcast on ESPN.

Houston faces James Harden's former team the Oklahoma City Thunder four times this season. The Thunder come to Houston on November 2 and April 3 and Houston heads to Oklahoma City on January 29 and March 22.
