Rider Down-League City

Heard about a fatality on 45S near Hwy 6 this morning, but this is all I could find.

http://www.khou.com/story/news/traff...eath/31449805/

Quote:
The Gulf Freeway southbound was shut down after a motorcyclist died in a crash early Tuesday.

According to the League City Police Department, it was around 2:30 a.m. when a motorcycle and Chevy Neon were traveling southbound.

The driver of the car struck the motorcycle from the rear. The driver of the motorcycle died on impact.

At this time, the accident is under investigation and the identity of the deceased is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

All traffic was forced to exit at League City Parkway until around 7 a.m. when the freeway reopened.

Seems weird. 2:30am and a motorcycle is struck from the rear(fatality)on the freeway? Wonder what the story actually is.

And what's a Chevy neon.

Sad. Hate to see bikes struck from the back. Hard to imagine that happening to a sport bike on the freeway. Maybe a harley? Other traffic stopped ahead?

You ol' laptop user, you. Yeah, I remember the time when it was pretty common for a majority of drivers to read books

Not having heard anything more about the accident, I decided to call the LCPD for more info.
I was told that the accident investigation is ongoing and that the cause of the accident nor the riders name has been released and that info will only be released at the discretion of the family, even after the investigation is complete.

So we may never know.

A fatality accident investigation is a long process, but yeah, we'll never hear the details unless it is determined a crime was committed.

LEAGUE CITY - A La Marque man was killed early Tuesday when a car struck the motorcycle he was riding, police said.

Richard Everett Ross, 57, was killed after a Chevy Malibu struck his motorcycle from behind at 2:30 a.m., League City Police Department spokeswoman Reagan Pena said.

The car and motorcycle had been traveling south in the 2900 block of Interstate 45 at the time of the crash, police said.

The driver is not facing any charges and has been cooperative with the investigation, Pena said. Police do not suspect that drugs or alcohol use contributed to the crash, Pena said.

The southbound lanes of Interstate 45 were closed for more than four hours during the accident investigation.
