Yikes, I've got an X-ray that looks just like that. In my experience from broken collar bones is keep good posture and your shoulders rolled back as much as possible. I didnt and my collar bone reattached overlapping an inch or so. Now I'm lopsided and my shoulder blade hits my spine.

Also figure out a way to not roll over on that shoulder, after about a week I rolled over in my sleep and re broke it.

Heal up and get back out there asap.

Hope you heal up soon. I went down in the Carousel during the previous session. I was more fortunate with only some aches and pains. My bike on the other hand didn't fair so well. I too would like to see some video if anyone has it. I passed a couple of riders exiting diamond's edge, and went into the Carousel too hot for my experience and ended up tumbling through the grass.
A bonehead move on my part, but at least no one else was involved. Sorry for the delay I caused by needing the crash truck.

Mine was worse then that, shattered in about five pieces. The doctor barely mentioned surgery, and I said yes lets do it.

Doc offered corrective surgery and I'm taking the offer.
Going under the knife tomorrow.

Looking forward to getting back out there again soon.

Displaced clavicle fracture, probably better chance of a good cosmetic outcome with the surgery. Heal up soon!

Several people I've talked to got this recommendation while the doctor I went to was pretty opposed to it. That was 10 yrs ago but still interesting.

My doc said it was too risky with all the nerves and veins there and I wouldn't lose any mobility by letting it heal naturally. I lost very little mobility and am lopsided from letting heal naturally. Surgery probably isn't a bad idea.

Corrective surgery? That's not standard protocol by any means. The ER nor Ortho ever sent a patient with new buckling fracture (that looked as clean a break as it comes, as I can see on my phone) to corrective surgery. I am by no means the authority on this, and it's called the practice of medicine for a reason. What exactly did he say he would be doing in there to re-fix clavicle fracture?

I've had this injury in the past and I have work in hospitals for 10 years (military and civilian). Just trying to understand

Funny you mention that. After having my collar bone and shoulder socket plated after a TWS (Texas World Speedway) T1 crash in '04, my golf coach took one look at my "new" swing and said "Um, yah, I can't do anything with that."

Hey Stache, glad to see your getting fixed up, I was really bummed out that you wrecked on Sunday. You were riding very well up to the point.

I have your video from that session, I didn't get the wreck as I only had a forward facing GoPro. But If you want your video from before the mishap I have it and can publish it on Youtube. Send me a PM, and let me know if you want me to do that.

Heal up man!

been there, done that, have the scar and some video as a souvenir. heal up quick!

it's been about 10 months since my surgery and my shoulder is finally starting to get back to normal. I did lose some mobility (overhead reach) and had to suffer through tendonitis during my recovery.

the crash was back in october, I started racing again in march, though I still haven't caught back up to where I was this time last year...

Man broke mine a few months back! Sucks but they heal up. Keep practicing and you won't fall as much, or at least you learn how to fall correctly lol
