If the park rangers had taken the bike out the owner would be looking at a fine plus the cost of dragging the bike out of the woods.

And to those who are now worried about the owner dying or being injured .. sure didnt seem to care when this was posted 2+ weeks ago. I am sure Buell who I spoke to would have known from the park rangers if someone had died in the forest. The park rangers would not have been trying to figure out how to get the bike out if someone had claimed it or notified someone it was left there due to an injury.

That being said, if one of the usual detectives wants to PM me we can run the vin to see if was stolen or find the owner. If we find an owner I will even call them to tell them the bike is no longer in the woods ... If I were a betting man I am sure they could care less because if they really wanted the bike they could have pushed it out of the woods like I did. Was it easy no .. but it was not impossible.

AGREE!!!!!!!! Thanks for the recovery and any storage charges you tack on owner should pay if he or she ever surfaces. Forestry service don't like you leaving stuff out there, not even your trash from camping, much less a big bike hunk of metal!

Bike is yours Rowdy unless someone shows up at your doorstep with a title and correct vin# on it. Then once he pays you your storage fees and recovery fee, give it back to him or her with your blessing. Hope your charging them $50 DAY.

yeah, I would have walked in and walked out...Worst case scenario, it's probably good for 25 or 30 bucks at the recycling center though.

Put some gas in it and ride until it grenades! No oil... Is that only the stator cover that is broke?

I saw Buell post a few times about the bike .. I live fairly close and I realize his group rides there all the time someone would have to make a trip just to get the bike out of the woods. I figured if I came out with something good .. worth the trip. Also I look at as I did something nice for the people who ride in the forest and removed something that did not belong there.

Is it a hunk of junk .. I dont know I have not a clue how to diagnose or fix it. Again if it turns out to be worth fixing hey for 2.5 hrs today (and 1.5 yesterday) got a bike. And for the time I spent no tax dollars were spent and no one who was trying to have a good time had to spend their day extracting a machine someone abandoned.

Yes only the stator cover is broke. One piece of plastic and the clutch handle end is broke off.

well, if you decide you want to unload it let me know how much you want. I wouldn't mind working on it to get the engine running for a project I've got in mind.

I think I see the problem... they didn't loosed the accelerator before the gearshift. If they'd read the sticker they would've known that was prohibited.
