SHNF abandoned bike on BOY SCOUT TRAIL!

Rode the BOY SCOUT trail on Saturday and there's an abandoned bike in the middle of it. Been there for a couple of months. There a quick glimpse of it at 5:01 of this video. If you know who it belongs to, tell them to come and get it, or whatever. Doesn't belong there for sure, and BTW===key is in it!!!!

I rode again today. Got a little too excited that I was able to pass a few folks. Got into a sharp deep sand turn too hot and knocked the out of a tree. Thankfully hit my handguard. Still managed to get my finger tip and right knee.

I crash every time out. Ha ha ha.

Boyscout is the one that crosses to the right of the multiuse entrance road. If you take sandy from the parking area, boyscout picks up at the lake loop/sandy/boyscout junction with the sign.

I got my engine in so I hope to have it all together next weekend. Will need to do a shake down at Rio Bravo before hitting the Forest

What kind of dirt bike would you guys suggest for someone who wants to have something they can ride out to the forest on?

A dirtbike with supermoto wheels? KLR650? I've been wanting to get a dirt bike but dont know where to start

or is planning on riding a dirtbike out to the forest a bad idea, and you should get a real dirt bike and trailer it out?

If you are a normal sized person, I'd get a 250 dirt bike. Don't get a klr for the forest way too heavy.

for a newb I definitely would not ride a dirt bike out there.....don't sell yourself short and get a huge bike like a KLR...

I would look for KLX300 or KDX200 KDX220 if you are on a budget. If not then get a 250 4 stroke MX bike and set it up for woods riding.

I think an ideal first woods bike would be a KTM 200 XC 2 stroker........not to be confused with a 250cc two stroke MX bike---stay away from these....

I agree. I slapped a flywheel weight and some handguards on my ktm250sx and raced an Enduro race with no practice. It was a disaster and I DNF. MY first and only DNF and it was embarrassing. That was made for the track and that is where I will ride it. It's like trying to race a Ferrari on a go kart track.

Come on guys, I'm riding a KTM 350sx and a KTM 144sx out there and no problem with either the 4 or 2 stroke rides. It's all about getting the smoothness down. And what tree's?

So what you are saying is we suck at trail riding? I'm good with that.

Not at all, just saying trail riding is all about having some fun on a dirt bike, speed is irrelevant as long as you're having fun. And sometimes slowing down a little and getting smooth is faster......especially if you're always ending up on the ODODB crash videos.

I tried to ride those trails on my KTM 525SMR once. . .and it wasn't a whole lot of fun with street tires in the sand/mud!

Are standard motocross boots ok or do I need the enduro/trail version with lugs on the sole for grip?
