Where Would You Rather Ride?

Contemplating options for a ride next year. 2-3 day trip for the hill country, 4-5 days for the others.

I should probably add that this would definitely not be a noob ride.

My vote would be for Arkansas. Ride a little bit longer to see better scenery.

I'd go Deals Gap just because I've never been. Don't know if I'll ever make it either lol.

Truthfully, I'm torn between the two. 21 hours to the Gap vs 11-12 to the good stuff in AR/MO, but the road surfaces in TN/VA are soooooo much better. Deal's Gap itself is a notch in the belt, for sure, but one day on the roads around it and you'll hardly give those 13 miles a second thought. In fact, coming back over the Gap after a day of riding can just about ruin the fun for you.

Which is why it's unlikely that I'll ever make it.

I honestly don't get to ride enough anymore to have an opinion on it. I lived in the hill country so those roads have been well traveled. There are some really sweet spots that I do wish I could re-visit though, cow creek, pack saddle, and a few other choice roads.

Yeah...the time off from work and family is tough for a lot of folks. A bonus for my rides, though, is that I can provide transportation up to four bikes and their riders.

Deals gap is overrated. While it is certainly technical, it is very slow and crawling with cops. Now riding the Tellico Plains and the Nantahala Forest is worth the ride and you can do Deals Gap and cross it off your bucket list. Not worth the ride just for that. It is turning into a motorcycling unicorn.

Yup. The gap sucks. Everything around it makes it worth the hassle, though.

Intentionally left out. I have plenty of in my life. What I don't have is what I consider ample seat time on awesome roads.

I'd like to do the Gap one day, even if it is overrated.

The Tail is over-rated in the sense that it's just over-hyped. It's great, but it's not any better than any other top-tier roads. But the good news is there's about a million other good roads around.

My vote is for Arkansas because I haven't done it.

Also FWIW I didn't see a single cop anywhere but the freeway while I was there this past weekend. We rode from dawn to dusk Friday and Saturday.
