Why did YOU leave?

***Request sticky***

After posting a picture of Scotland where riding is just beautiful I came to ask the retorical question "why did I leave?"

Well as a result a few of you replied with your own pics of where your from and asked the same question.

So I realized as much as Houston is GREAT we all still have a love/passion for our home towns and that is what this thread is for. Post a pic of your hometown/country (preferably somewhere that locals would ride) and don't forget to mention name of town/area, state and country!!!

I'll start - this pic is in the Highlands of Scotland. Obviously in Summer!!!

I grew up in Hawaii.... Why did I leave? School and work ... but I go home every year to remind myself what real surfing is and what a real beach is supposed to look like.

I have actually been to this exact round about in Saigon with the statue. Its definitely a beautiful country especially when you get out into the countryside. The only problem is there aren't really any traffic laws everyone just kinda does what they want on the roads so its really scary to travel there.

Mid october for me (and my wife)... 10 yerar aniversary on the Big Island. Can't wait. Woot!

As far as the thread goes, I grew up in Arlington, moved east and south to Nacogdoches for school, then went further south to Houston Area for employment post-college. After 9 years w/ Compaq/HP I started to look for something else and opened up my search to include Austin. A good opportunity opened up and I jumped on it. So far so good. Houston was hard to get out of because you sort of get trapped. (I don't neccesarily mean that in a bad way). Low cost of living is a double-edged sword. Easy to get into, difficult to get out of. My friggin house near HP/Compaq appreciated about $10K in 7 years. My house in Austin has already eclipsed that (about double actually) in less than 8 months...
