Will be new to riding in a week or so...

Hey guys,

I'm new here so I figured I'd check in. I will be getting my first bike within the next few weeks and I'm scheduled for the basic msf course next weekend. I've never really ridden before, I tried to ride friends bikes here and there but never got to learn enough to be confident riding.
I haven't completely decided wether to get a Honda phantom or the spirit, or whether the abs on them is worth the extra $ but im getting something close to that (suggestions are also welcomed). Don't really know what to expect from the class either, but hopefully it'll at least get me to where I can drive my new bike home from the dealer confidently. Can't wait to start riding though, anyways just wanted to check in.

Welcome. The MSF course helps a lot! I learned a little on a friends bike when I started but didn't really feel confident till I took the course, especially at low speeds.

ABS is worth the money for sure! really easy to lock up the front tire when someone pulls out in front of you.

Hmmmm. I'd be interested in more opinions on abs. I have it one 1 bike but not the others. I think brake modulation is a skill that can be learned relatively quickly in a controlled environment. It wouldn't be a make or break option for me on a bike.

Welcome
Hope you are taking the course at Awesome Cycles.
I had a good experience with them. Walter is a great instructor, too.
