why can't this forum ever have a discussion without everyone taking so personal. if someone's opinion is different from yours, get over it.

I bought an ICON helmet to give as a gift and I was sorry I did. I don't think it lasted 2 months. The air ducts came unattached, the finish rubbed off, the visor didn't seal properly and it was HEAVY.

I've only owned ICON gloves (textile) and they lasted about as long as the helmet.

Other ICON stuff I've seen has been pretty shabby as well.

But I'm sure not knocking wearing ICON/HJC/Scorpion/etc if that's what you can afford. The people who say, "Arai/Shoei is the ONLY way to go" are just as bad as the people who buy ICON helmets because of the graphics.

Not everybody can drop $500 - $700 on a helmet.

Wear the best that you can afford.

I have (had) a Shoei RF-1000 and it was sweet. I'm riding in a 7 yr old HJC LT-12 right now and I would trust it in a crash, but it's ugly as sin.

Unless it is brand new and depends on the brand...otherwise I agree with you. I also would not buy a USED lid. Lids after certain amount of time become unsafe. the interwall can shrink after a long period of time and you not know it...untill you wreck and it breaks open.

So that counts for lids that have been on the shelves brand new but unused. I see a lot of 1-2+ year old lids sitting on shelves at stores and they are still brand new.
