it's the bomb! lots of trails - some short some long. google trail riders of houston, they have maps on their website. always call before you haul (sorry don't have the number handy)

take a buddy with you - walking out of that place is not fun. most of the trails loop back to the trail head (parking area) they have short loops which range from about 10 miles to longer ones that are up to 30 miles.

plan on a wide range of terrain from deep sand, there are many roots that like to destroy tires, creek crossings (most are bridged) and it's not uncommon to have a tree or two laying across the trail. it'll make you real tuff fo sho!

it's a blast - have fun and take a buddy

riding the forest on mini's is awesome. . .call this number to check and see if the trails are open or not 936-344-6205. They close depending on the weather to prevent erosion. Bring a buddy, a cell phone, and a good sense of direction, the trail system is huge. We always get on the trails at Kelly's Pond Recreational area if that helps at all.

Are you riding to day or when? I need to check in at 1600 to see if I might have to work.

I stole this from another source too:

Usually after several days of rain they will close the trails to protect them from getting torn up so you may want to call and confirm if they are open before you make the trip, that is if trail riding is what you want. SHNF 936-344-6205 option 2.

Bikes used on the trails do not have to be street legal, but they do need a spark arrestor, and the rider is required to wear a helment. Bikes that are ridden on the forrest dirt roads have to meet the same requirements as the street. The Forrest LEO's do enforce this. All of the rules are posted at the designated parking areas.

most important is to pay your parking fees!!!! they will ticket you and send it in the mail

Night runs in the forest on unfamiliar trails is probably not a good idea. There is a lot of treacherous stuff out there.
