Gofundme help :)

Hey guys!

A few months back (april) my parents were out in the richmond area heading down 36 when a truck pulled out in front of them. They hit her, got lifeflighted out to Memorial Herman. Ended up surviving, but pretty beat up.

After 3 months in the hospital, and physical therapy clinic, they've ran out of money. So they asked if i would setup a go fund me page for them to assist with getting some of the on going costs of having to be at home now, with no way to walk ( other than a walker ). The family has been going over to the house to help out from time to time, but it's getting hard as they really can't do much of anything on there own.

If anyone could donate ( even 5 bucks ), or share the link on facebook / twitter, I'd ( and they'd ) be much appreciative. I know the gofundme pages get a lot of hate around here.. but after spending endless amounts of cash, they just need help. The good news is, the insurance on the other lady did replace the bike

The link to the page is http://gofundme.com/plumadore

Thanks!

They had bike insurance, and it covered quite a bit in terms of personal protection, but yes, they refuse to get health insurance. I've always asked them what's up, and why they refuse, they just play the " never thought we'd need it bit ". We all have our views, theres are just flawed :p

Sucks they wrecked. They made their bed by refusing to buy health insurance. This is literally the reason that you buy it... They do not deserve any financial help. That said, I am sorry to hear about their injuries and I hope they have as speedy and comfortable of a recovery as possible.

So they have sold all their worldly posessions, including the bike? And are bankrupt? And the at-fault driver had no insurance either?

Sorry they were hurt.

Stupid to run around on a motorcycle (or a car for that matter) with not enough coverage and double stupid for not having health insurance.

Not sure this thread is going the way you planned.

If everyone in their club gives $100 then they could hit their goal. I'm just tired of supporting other's bad decisions and especially when they knowingly made that decision. Sorry to hear about the accident. It's something that could happen to any of us and that's why I prepare for it.

But, being part of a club surely will help. (said in seriousness)

No they haven't sold all there worldly possessions. Yes the at fault driver had insurance , no they are not bankrupt, we've covered driving without medical insurance is stupid. I'm just a rider asking for a favor, if you consider it a hand out , then so be it, you can donate or share to assist. If you don't want to that's perfectly fine. However , since we've covered they are stupid for not having health insurance , each person probably doesn't need to mention it. On a side note, they can't ride, bike was replaced in cash value that's going to the hospital, as with the cash they have been saving there whole life. So while yes they didn't have health insurance, they are surely paying for the mistake. At 60 years old and having no more $$ to retire it's clearly a life changer. I just thought I'd ask. I do appreciate the get well soon comments , so thank you

that really sucks. I know what it is like and I have bad insurance...

Unfortunately enough I already pay for other peoples bad decisions without my consent via the government and cannot afford another dollar for any more.

Best of luck to them, it really sucks. Ask me what it's like to lose $250,000 in a second cause I know.

Maybe I can set up a gofundme account for people to pay for my health insurance premiums. I mean, hey, I'm saving you money!

At fault driver's insurance should be paying for ALL the medical bills, plus a lot more for pain and suffering. They should not need any handouts.

if the replaced the bike the ins company has obviously assumed fault and all associated medical bills should be covered so I'm confused and a bit conflicted.

The other drivers insurance could very easily be maxed out. The state minimum is something super low, like $35k injury. After that, you'd have to sue the policy holder.

Every policy has limits on what it pays. Anything over that limit is on the policy holder
