I wear earplugs and use a Sena. I can barely hear my music above 85. When I'm taking corners at more than double, I tend to tune out everything but engine noise no matter how loud I have my music turned up. The light sits at the corner of my right eye and is very unobtrusive.

How much will that speeding ticket cost, versus the $170 investment?

If the Bluetooth transmitter wasn't an option I'd be totally on board.

I bought this mount for cheap, and it seems to work fairly well. I had to modify the clamp system and use zip ties to attach to the triple tree but, the retractable locking arms have me a little leary. Although, it did hold up for the 700 miles we rode (minus one time when I forgot to "lock it" and the strap saved the day).

I use it in conjunction with the Sena. And man, while it's a great system I couldn't hear for over 40 mph (my bike is loud with D&D pipe and added wind noise) even with the noise cancellation ear buds. So, after digging around the internet a while I said screw it and made my own. Work like a charm and Sena will likely get much more use now. I'd like something more solid as far as mounts, but I haven't seen one with a wide enough base to mount it around an upper triple tree. No room on the clips ons and they'd interfere with upper cowl/windscreen mount even if they did fit I think. Old school bike problems.

I find it natural to glance down at them and prefer the open front view without the rabbit ears. I'm not a big guy so little problem with my elbows blocking view.

My $0.02
link? I haven't had great luck with picking mirrors so far.

This is the ebay seller I bought mine from:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BLACK-MOTORC...item27ed52c42d

That was 2yrs ago and I paid $38/pr, so not sure if these are the same items. For $25, I'd say it's worth a shot. If you do a search for "bar end mirrors Triumph" you'll find a whole bunch of mirrors similar to this style, which I like because they are copying the genuine Triumph accessory mirrors, so they work great. Good adjustability, slightly convex to give a good field of view, but not too convex so as to distort distances excessively. Solid as a rock at fwy speed (assuming your handlebar setup is vibration free to begin with).

The Speed Triple just come with a thin aluminum end cap, so replacing it with a (relatively)heavier bar end mirror caused no problems. I forgot how the Sprint ST is, but my Sprint GT have floating bar end weights that meant to act as mass dampeners. They do work, as I can feel those weights buzzing at fwy speeds, while the grip is relatively calm. So I don't know how the bar end mirrors will fair in that application.

Also, my S3 uses a smaller metric screw (M4?) than what the ebay mirrors come with. No biggie, I just drilled and retapped the inserts inside the handlebars for the larger (M5?) thread. The insert are aluminum so very easy to work with.

Thanks.

I'm using a bar end mirror with the weighted piece on my Sprint right now and it works ok, but I've had several of these fall apart and I'm looking to try something a little different. The last set I bought that were similar to the Triumph style were total garbage, so I'm hoping to find something someone has had good luck with.
