Going to try to take the wife out for her first ride this weekend. It will be the noobiest of noob rides at SHNF. Let me know if anyone else wants to tag along.

I have a new to me KTM 520 that I may have ready to ride (but with very out of tune suspension) this weekend. Would need to get some kind of tag on it by then right?

Yes and any dealer should have it. Only $16 I believe.

Well, if she likes it and ever wants to ride on the track, bring her with you!

I was just checking she wasn't a complete noob to motorcycling and doing the SHNF for the first run. It can be a lot for a beginer. Sounds like she will be OK since she has 3 years expierence riding on the streets. Bring lots of water . There is one area coming out of trail head 233 that has heavy erosion. I hope she likes it

Yeah it's still kind of experimental right now. We are also doing a dirt biking family reunion in Idaho at the end of July so I think by then she will have a good idea if she wants to continue or not.

this would be perfect to take my son on his first forest ride too. I need a forest tag for him though...and a truck..and what ever else...would be my first time there too.

Literally takes a 5 min stop to a dealer and then however long it takes to place a sticker on the forks.

We (ODODB) will be out there at 7:30, but ours is a little above a noob ride. If you are in the parking area and see and old bald guy at a burnt orange Dodge truck on a KTM, come over and say "HI".

We're usually at the east side trailhead at the back left side past the potty under the trees. You can't miss the orange Dodge truck.
