Gear requirements for the track

I plan on doing my first track day later on this year and I am wondering if I will need new gear.

1. Scorpion sgs gloves, they stop at my wrist, I am almost sure I will need gauntlet gloves

2. Helmet, Bell qualifier dlx its DOT and ece but not snell

3. Boots, I have the alpinestars faster shoes, I read somewhere "must cover the ankle" these do, however with leather pants on I will still have skin exposed unless I wear high socks.

thanks for the help.

Yes, you'll need gauntlets.
I believe just over the ankle works for boots. I'd call or email the td org directly.

Your Helmet is fine, but you will need gauntlet gloves and better boots. Ridesmart has a limited number of boots for rental, and a pretty good size selection of leathers for rental, which is free your first track day.

You will also need to removed your license plate, and cover all plastic lights with painters tape. I would also disconnect the rear and front lights, but it's not required so long as they are covered so you cannot see them.

Make sure your oil plug and oil filter are properly tightened as well as the coolant cap to the radiator. If you can, I would safety wire the oil plug, but it's not required. When you go through tech inspection, bring you bike and helmet. We are looking to make sure there are no leaking fluids, the throttle returns on it's own and isn't sticking, the front brake lever has pressure. And lastly, we also look at your chain tension, as too tight a chain can limit the movement of the rear shock.

And the most important thing is to show up ready to have fun, look forward to seeing you at the track. If you have any other questions, you can PM me or email anyone at Ridesmart.

Not to high jack, but I have street gloves that are somewhere between short and full gauntlets. Do these work, or do I need full gauntlets?

1. you need gauntlet, they have some you can borrow for free. i might have a size large you can borrow for free as well.

2. my lid is DOT/ECE from suomy, you dont need snell for trackday or race requirements in texas.

3. even if you could sneak onto the track with those boots you dont want to. you'll rash up your ankles really bad if you have even a small lowside. email them, try to reserve a pair. invest in some better boots if possible.

great questions, hope to see ya out there. if you got other questions hit me up

Not to thread jack but I got a question too lol.

Recently put a senna on my helmet. Do I have to take it off to do a track day or does it not matter?

I called and asked about gauntlet gloves and the guy said as long as you have full finger gloves you are fine in level 1. I have a set of gauntlet gloves but the are my winter gloves (waterproof and insulated), not to smart for the summer. But know I am going to call and ask again bc everyone's response is making me nervous.

I don't think so, we use the Sena for instructor to rider use. Just make sure its secure so you don't lose it.

It states it in their website. For your first td you'll be fine. Dont let it make you nervous or stress out about it.

To the original question:
- gauntlet gloves
-Dot helmet
-Leathers
-'race' boots. Meaning hard boots that go up to your calf.

I wouldn't put it on your helmet, if you crash it won't end as well for your noggin.
