Good day trips?

I was thinking at work that I need to get out and ride more. Not necessarily hitting all the "twisty" roads but just ride to a destination and back. Mainly unique places within 250 mile radius.

Anyone know any good trips around Houston?

Something like Shiner Tx to visit the brewery.

Goliad texas to visit the Fort there....

Any suggestions?

Brenham airport diner when they are open. Waitresses in 50s poodle skirts, eat lunch , watch helicopters and planes take off. Drawback is limited hours diner is open. I would say swing by blue bell for dessert but that really depends on you listeria tolerance heh. I like going to Summerville lake area too, there's that little cafe that sells country fired bacon with gravy...yum

^^Brenham is nice.. or we'll go up to Lake Livingston and cruise along the lake... if you want to go northwest, Salado is nice too.. (taking back roads up through Brenham and Cameron)..

Lake Livingston is a nice run with lots of good roads and scenery and some interesting places to eat.

After our 700 miles this past weekend, which entailed roads around Austin/Salado and down to New Braunfels....I'd be hard pressed to believe that's a day trip. More like a 2 day trip.

Well, I ride to Austin early in the morning, hit 6th street for some pizza. Then visit a few bartender friends up and down 6th, ride around the outskirts and get lost. Finish up with a snack and drink at the Oasis while I stare at the lake and then head back home. I can do that all in a day and have done it many times.

Small burger joint , purple cow or something along those lines . Good food and they have tables outside to sit and eat and relax .
