F4I fuel pump not priming

I've searched for a few hours on this. Everyone that has a non priming fuel pump also do not have working headlights or turn signals, maybe sometimes the high beam indicator will stay on or they will have the FI light on.

I bought a 2001 f4i a few weeks ago, got a new battery, ignition cylinder lock, a few other parts and a new fuel pump today ( well actually it had 3k miles on it, looks brand spanking new ).

I plugge din the fuel pump today and wanted to see if it would prime. to my surprise, it didnt prime. The fuel relay doesnt even click. I swapped the fuel relay and engine stop relay but taht didnt work. Checked all of the connectors and fuses and the dreaded gray connector on the main harness, no corrosion or out of place pins. I even bypassed the bank angle sensor. My headlights work, turn signal indicator works (no turn signals installed, front or rear currently, i wonder if this is the problem? slightly doubtful). Bike cranks wonderfully. My front brake switch does not work (doesnt activate rear brake light).

Slightly confused to what is happening. I wiggled every wire by wire on every harness to see if i could locate any loose connections without any solutions. Anyone have any suggestions? I hope its nothing stupid like me missing my turn signals

Well, I was going to take the ignition apart again because it was a non oem Chinese replacement. I know there needs to be a zener diode in there that sends out a 9v signal. I was thinking this may be the culprit but I will confirm later today. I'm hoping I can throw a diode in there if I were missing one... Did a test and have no power to the relay at all, I even jumped it to make sure and got nothing, rechecked the connections last night after my initial post and didn't see any corrosion whatsoever. Will update later tonight

The ignition switch could cause the fuel pump not to prime if it's some Hong Kong Ching chong . I had an f4i a few months ago with a dirty killswitch that gave me starting issues. Took a small brass brush and cleaned the contacts and it seemed to fix it

Yes. It will crank in the on and off position

Now THAT is interesting. The few times I cranked it were to do a compression test (160,165,165,160 btw) and I always put the kill switch to "run". I will see if it cranks in the off position as well. I will try that tonight since the bike looks like its been sitting outside for awhile

Ok just tested the killswitch. I put it on "off" and hit the starter, fuel relay clicks and fuel pump primes. Sounds like possibly the killswitch? Can anyone confirm? Even with the bank angle sensor unplugged, repeating these steps still primes the pump.

Ii just took the killswitch apart to maybe see if I could find anything. One of the sprung "connector blades" was a little bent and not making full contact with the two cylinder contact points on the kill switch itself. Thought maybe that was the problem and bent it back, cleaned every other contact point and nothing.. The fuel pump only primes with the switch off and starter switch activated.. WTF?! I'm pretty lost lol

Yeah once I get the bike together.. Got it in pieces and missing a good amount of hardware at the moment heh. Should be ready to run in a week or two once I get all of my parts. I bought it in a really rough condition. Has painted race fairings and the like and the owner never registered it and left it sitting for a year. Title says 3k miles, bike has 12 now. Don't know exactly what it went through as the previous owner disappeared after the sale lol

So i went over the wiring AGAIN and couldn't find any discrepancies. Could it possibly be a faulty ecu? Would anyone be willing to let me swap theirs into mine to see if the problem still persists

so i checked the pink wire and its showing 7.8v.

i read of a few different things online, is it 9v or 7v to the pink wire to turn on the ecu?
