BUMP.


I am having an starting issue. lights come up but no spark. seems like the battery might be going bad. it was working fine yesterday.

anyways.. so to jump-start using my car. just connect the cables with the engine off? can someone confirm this before i fry something ..

Just to throw out a little info on why that can happen so suddenly...

batteries have plates inside that are pretty close together. Being close together allows them to efficiently make electricity but if they touch, they will short out and kill the flow.
Vibration can break a plate or 2 loose while your riding which effectively has killed the battery.
The bikes electrical system will continue to power the ignition as long as the engine is running but as soon as you turn the bike off, no power. Charging won't help, because the battery is shorted out internally.
Nothing you can do but replace the battery.

A lot of you will already know this but for those who don't, that is often why it seems everything is ok, then suddenly the bike is dead.
