And they apparently need to start with a $184,000 bike to do it.

As much as I like Honda V4s, this thing is just a novelty conversation piece. I'd rather get a RSV4R Factory or RF for tenth of that cost. I prefer narrow angle V4's anyway, these 90deg V4s have very inefficient packaging. And Honda had to resort to some extreme tricks to keep the racing version's wheelbase from getting too long and the weight bias out of wack. Ducati could never get it right with their Desmosedici 90deg V4.

It the specs, Honda touted the 1000cc is "as small as the 800cc V4". No kidding, sensei... Honda's VFR1200F's 76deg V4 is physically smaller than their old 781cc V4. Ape's 999cc 74deg V4 is even smaller, and more structurally rigid to boot. Packaging efficiency FTW.

It's 157 hp, unless you buy the sport kit which isn't available in the us anyway. There are sevvverrraaallll things different than the actual motogp bike. Valve train, transmission, suspension, wheels, brakes, electronic....basically for $184,000 you're getting a moto gp frame and swingarm, a neutered v4, and some nice components that are by no means moto gp components. The r1m, graves ecu, full exhaust and suspension, has 50 more hp and costs at least $140k less.

The US spec sheet reads 101HP, but that doesn't mean Honda is disclosing the true number

The true number has been released, there's an article on crash.net. It's 157. 211 with sport kit.

So, you'd rather believe a lower number than a stock cbr600rr. I was trying to help you honda swingers out but nvm.

Uh, I kinda already said that. Honda usually doesn't disclose HP numbers

Honda normally does not publish performance numbers. You may want to check with various industry magazines or websites which may publish their own performance tests. Independent test results may vary depending on testing conditions, equipment, etc.

Not at all. This is 100% novelty. And they had announced plans for this bike years ago.

Seems more that they're rushing its debut at this weekends MGP race so they can sell a few while people still believe Honda is the top and reigning championship mfgr.

As for WSBK they'd need to sell it for no more than 40K EUR and have at least 500 availble for sale by year end of the first season they use it. At 184K USD and the one per day production rate mentioned, they are a bit off target for WSBK.

We live in America, not the gun hating hippie continent of Europe.

Also I could be wrong but I'm remember seeing that the brake calipers are the same as motogp and the suspension is supposed to be motogp spec but not sure what that means exactly. If I was rich enough I would buy it, strip it down to track mode and get Honda to unleash the beast. Then ride the out of it.
