Bike Night

Hello,

I am from the m109riders board. We thought it would be a good idea to put together a consistant (twice a month/once a month) bike night. The idea is to find a strip mall with a fairly big parking lot and different restaurants to choose from. Get one of those (or several) restaurants to sponsor the event. They would rope off part of the lot for the bikes to park in, maybe provide some type of music on loud speakers, and maybe provide some type of discount on food (maybe cheap ice cream or something). This will bring in a lot of business for them, and provide some cheap fun for the public to come in and view the bikes. The parking lot would need to be fairly well lit. Maybe a newer strip mall.

We are looking for participation, and ideas. The area chosen should be very central so that it encourages participation. The topic on our board can be found here:

http://www.m109riders.com/forum/inde...topicseen.html

When I lived in Phoenix, there was a monthly event that I attended that was like this. McDonalds of all people actually sponsored the event. They had loudspeakers playing music, and cheap ice cream. The event brought hundreds of people every month. It got so big that we started seperating vehicles on type. It would be great to do this every month in Houston.

+1

But they have a meet like this for classic cars in the champions area every other Sat. night in a Kroger/Starbucks shopping center and other places. Would be cool to have one for bikes

Would be a great idea. Just a suggestion, make it somewhere central. Alot of the reason why I don't make it to most meet and greets are because of the distance.

From what I understand, there are several car/bike nights like that throughout the city and participation is not great. I know there is a spot in the NNW with music and cars but even though bikes are invited, I never seen many when I went.

Right now, the trend here is bike nights regionalized with cozy get-togethers.

A big bikenight as you describe could happen and may be fun but I think it would take a small start and good behavior where cops won't break it up right away. And that seems to be hard to do in Houston... :laughing6

well im thinking of doing something on a weekly basis. im not for sure yet on where but i have the ideas, and its weekly, but i also am thinking of the turn out since everyone is clicked togeter, bbut i want this to be everyone together, not get to gether for a tribute ride or anything, but no tribute ride ,

iff we all can get together for a tribute ride or what have you,why can we just all do the same on a weekly basis to get to know one an other and all ride together? well ppost up if interested.

I hate thier food, but like the girls. It seems like more Hooters are willing to have car/bike meets then most places.

I know of 1 car meet once a week that they are cool with having. and most meets I knew of in the past was always at a hooters (45 @ 1960 also)

Excellent idea. Me and my bike club are working on a spot. I'll post info once we finalize things. From what I have seen, they harass u when you are not doing what you supposed to be doing. We have been to starbucks a few times. When we roll up there, of course you have security. We talked to the security, and they said that the problem they have with bikers hanging there is the burnouts tearing up there parking lots. So when you arrange a bike night, make sure you set rules so it can be an ongoing thing with no problems. That's just my 2 cents.

As far as location, you may want to look at the hooters on gessner and westheimer. Since hooters like bikes and it seems like a central location.

yeah hooters even offers discounts if you come in on a bike certain days.

being centraly located i think is the key to a big turnout. im tired of meets being out on 290 or in pearland

I dont mind riding out for a meet..
The STP guys are trying to have a weekly thing at 45S @ Beltway...
I like the idea of Sonic bike meet myself.... A long as the participants behave and dont burn out and wheelie all over the place I'm sure a place would have a bike meet.
