Crazy stuff right there. But I'm not sure about the whole global warming thing due to all the ice that surrounds it. I think the earthquake theory is more likely and the water escaped to the core, but still to drain a 10-12 acre lake is pretty alarming to say the least.

Mother Nature in action...

For millenia the earth has been doing it's own thing, and
will continue to do so. What's amazing is when people build in the
path of something and then are suprised when something happens.

It said that the lake was supplied with water from melting glaciers, well due to global warming, we have less of them. I'm going to say that maybe both tremors and global warming played a part.

Or super-sized sink hole. :dontknow: I've read/watched documentaries about it happening before. Can you imagine if you were standing on the side of the lake fishing or something and all of a sudden somebody pulls the drain plug and all the water goes swirling down the drain? :laughing6

LOL... there are still chunks of ice where the lake was, AND the lake was fed by melting glaciers.... "Global Warming," I think not.

Yes, but if you look at the patch of green grass in the front of the pic there is no ice. And the ice that is on the land may be at an angle where it won't flow into that portion of the valley. Hence, the glacier supplying the water has melted away. Humm........

But I'm not there, so who's to say.

I gotcha, I must have skimmed over that part, but for that much water to go away in a month, something had to happen.

P.s. Ignore the funny color, it'll fade/clear out.

O.K. I did a little home work and found that 1 acre= 57,600 square feet multiply that by 12 and you get 691,200 square feet not to mention depth, that's alot of figgin water.
