Rockets' Howard suspended one game for next season

Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard has been suspended one game without pay for collecting his fourth flagrant foul of the 2015 postseason, the NBA announced Friday.

The incident, which was upgraded from a common foul to a flagrant-1 foul upon league office review, occurred when Howard made unnecessary contact with his forearm to the neck area of Golden State guard Andre Iguodala with 3:35 remaining in the fourth quarter of the Warriors' 104-90 win over the Rockets on Wednesday night at Oracle Arena.

The Warriors closed out a 4-1 series win over the Rockets in Game 5 of the Western Conference finals and advanced to the NBA Finals for the first time in 40 years.
The Warriors face LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals, a best-of-seven series that is scheduled to open in Oakland next Thursday night. Cleveland finished off a four-game sweep of the Atlanta Hawks in the Eastern Conference finals Tuesday night.

Howard will serve his suspension in the first game of the 2015-16 NBA regular season for which he is eligible and physically able to play.

In addition, Howard and Warriors center Andrew Bogut each had their technical fouls, assessed with 3:19 remaining in the second quarter of the same game, rescinded upon league office review, according to Rod Thorn, the NBA's president of basketball operations.
