Just needed to Vent.

Ok, so hereís the deal. I lived in a two-bedroom apartment with my first roommate, Jason. We were the best of friends, and loved each other like brother and sister. Then things started changing about 2 months ago and we became more distant, which was fine with me, I still had my group of friends that I was becoming closer to anyways. Then one day after some drama happened between Jason and I, he decided that we should go our separate ways. I agreed and I signed him off the lease because I thought Iíd have another roommate by now. So my friend Erica was going to sign on the 1st of July. She hasnít stayed at the apartment with me this whole month, so I wasnít making her pay anything. Iíve been basically living there with Sean.

Now Sean, Erica and I all work together for Shell Oil Co. Sean and I work Mon-Fri 7-3pm. Erica works Thursday and Friday 7-3pm and Saturday and Sunday 7-7pm. So on Thursdayís and Fridayís she sometimes needs a ride to work, I donít mind seeing as how she lives very close to me and she isnít out of the way. But now Iím pretty irritated with her not even offering to help pay for gas. She claims to not have enough money to help out, but yet she can afford her new one bedroom apartment??? I donít get it.

I got her the job at Shell and she missed 4 days her 2nd training week, her second week being here period!! She calls in sick almost 1 day every week that she works. She NEVER offers to pay for gas, and she just now told me about a week ago that she didnít want to be my roommate and I could have already been transferred into a one bedroom by now because I canít afford a two by myself!!

Iím that Iíve done all of this t for Erica and yet I have gotten nothing in return. No gratitude, no thanks for keeping my furniture or no thank you for letting me stay here when I didnít have a place to live, or no thanks for always being there for me, NOTHING! Iíve considered her a really good friend of mine, but now Iím starting to rethink the ďreally goodĒ part.

Iím not too worried about the apartment situation anymore, Sean and I are moving into the one bedroom together, go us! But Iím still kind of bothered by finding out what kind of friends I really have now.

Tell me, would any of you be upset by this too?

yeah, I would be upset. I had a similar situation with a "FRIEND" I thought I could help out, despite what everyone said. In the end I got burned, bad, and decided that you know what? I gotta look out for numero uno!!!!

No matter how good of a friend you can be to someone else, you gotta take care of priority one, yourself, before thinking about anyone else....

I think I'm way too nice. Seriously... I'm going to quit being so nice; I get taken advantage of way too often!

Yes, I would get ticked too. Of course I am being preassumptious but from what it sounds, she is irresponsible, immature and unthankful. Spoiled brat would be a good description. Don't take it personal. Life is too short to have people in your life that are not worth it. Send her on her own way and find some real friends.

I got a roommate and we are very good friends...if he me off I let him know, he does the same to me if I him off. We get along pretty good so situations like these very really come to the surface as we don't hoild things back. If he's slacking on his end of keeping common space clean, etc. I let him know. As far as helping each other out with rides and such we don't have that problem as we have our own vehicles. GL with your new apt. and always look out for yourself first.

Hard lesson to learn, but you'll profit from it.

I mean, if you have ever met me in person, you'll know i'm one of the coolest down to earth cats, but there's a point in your life where you gotta say enough is enough.....:dontknow:

that's only true for girls...I know, my g/f and her roommate get after each others throats all the time. Whether it be money, dishes, vacuuming, leaving the lights on, etc. My roommate and I don't have that problem, ever.

+1

I have been there. I always help people out, well I use to, I have been burned way to many times. Then when you look out for yourself you they call you selfish. **** UM Take care of yourself, then is anything is left you help people, I stopped sacrificing for people that I dont know really well, and that I KNOW would do the same for me.

Guys don't get their 'feelings hurt' when you tell them something. With girls, it immediately becomes drama. :eh: :BangHead:

Doesn't only pertain to roommates, that goes for friends in general, work, play, etc.
