Post New guy from Angleton

Hey my name is Jason. I grew up riding a YZ80 as a kid. Just picked up my first bike as an adult. Looking to meet the mileage/gear requirement for my first track day in October with Ride Smart @ MSR Houston.

Background:
I'm a Honda fan. I've owned 23 cars in the last 16 years, and 17 of them were Honda/Acura. I started racing autocross in 2007 with SCCA and got first place for my class "STF" in 2008 running a Honda Fit. After I moved to Angleton in 2009 I discovered a little grassroots event called the Angleton Gymkhana hosted by Jeff Kurtz. Got first place for the year in my 98' Integra Type R. Once my wife and I had our little girl, I stepped away from the race track and decided to sell the ITR to a close friend. I would co-drive at the Houston Police academy with him a few times over the next few years. Looking forward to learning the bike and getting my feet wet at my first track day in October *fingers crossed*.

welcome man, and good luck at MSRH. IDK about ride smart but fastline provided leatehrs for your first time. if not, you need a one or two piece suit, proper helmet and gloves and good boots. bike tech is easy, take off plates and mirrors and tape up lights. and no leaks. everything is similiar to what you would expect at an autox as far as how its run and tech is done.

Ill forgive you for being a Honda guy...the ITR is a pretty sweet car. too bad honda killed off all their good stuff and nothing is RWD here :/

Thanks for the heads up. I'm not on facebook, but lurk off my wife's account from time to time. When's the last time you hit CR 42 in Rosharon? It's got fresh blacktop since the last time I ran it.

Thanks for the advise. I'll have to look into fastline as another option. And yeah I was expecting the Honda comment. I guess I'm just a kid at heart and won't ever grow up.

Yeah a few of us on this forum took that road on a ride a few months back and they had mentioned that it was repaved. It had been my first time riding 42 so I enjoyed myself.

They do. You can also keep an eye on the boards and pick up a used set. I have some to loan out if you want to try out LSTD next month at TWS (Texas World Speedway). Last time to be able to ride the track. It's a little more money but worth it for sure.

Ridesmart is coming to MSRH on June 20th. First timers get half off (which brings it to $70) and free leather/boot rental. Just bring ur helmet and gloves!
