Hello everyone,
Iím not sure how many of you have been keeping up with the construction and updates on the ECR web site.

Here is a brief update from 6/10/07.

2007-06-10 - 17:20:00

ECR Members,
As you know, we have been working on the final layer of the track surface since June 4th. During this process, we have discovered that the unusual and extended rainy season has softened the ground under the track more than we are comfortable with. Based on careful analysis, we have decided to take additional measures to ensure the track can fully withstand extreme use under any possible future weather conditions.

Under the most vulnerable sections of the course, we will be adding a cement stabilizer into the foundational aggregate that is currently in place. This technology is used throughout the industry on many of the strongest and most durable road surfaces in the world. Our first priority is to provide our Members and Clients with not only the best track surface possible, but also one that will not deteriorate or fail with time, use, or extreme weather.

These additions will add a minimum of 2 weeks to the final paving process. This will render the track unusable until our planned opening in early July. All track events prior to July are hereby canceled.

We do know that you are all very eager to start using the track. But we also know that you will all appreciate a facility that was not hurriedly constructed and will last a lifetime. As the first phase completion approaches, we are very exited for everyone who will begin to enjoy the facility in the near future. As always, we really appreciate having all of you with us and thank you for your continued understanding!
-----------------------------
I have spoken with the ownership of the track and it looks like 50% of the surface has been ground up to add more stabilization materials. The rain and floods of late have backed up their timetable considerably. When we booked this event it looked like the final layer of asphalt was all that was needed and it would be completed by June 15th.

That would leave one month for the final surface to cure along with ample time to finish the paddock, entry roads and other final elements of the construction. It is unfortunate but we will not be able to hold our July 16th event at ECR as planned. Track management has assured us that our August 13th event will be on schedule pending any other unforeseen complications. We are going to automatically roll all July 16th registrations over to August 13th. If there are any problems with this scheduling please contact wade@lstd.com.

Thanks,
LSTD

North Texas is having serious flooding issues right now and that just happens to be where ECR is. Having the track finished and then watching it wash away has to be a pretty crappy feeling.
