Motorcycle trip

Going on vacation the 29th, and me and a friend will be riding from here to San Francisco! We will make stops at Roswell, New Mexico, then go from there to Durango, Colorado and see the Mesa Verde Cliffs, where we will then travel to the grand canyon, and then we will head to Las Vegas for a night. From there we will either go through Lake Tahoe, and Yosemite park on the way to San Francisco, or we will head to Southern California and make stops at Los Angeles, and San Diego on the way, and traveling along the Pacific Coast highway to San Fran. Any suggestions of really good routes, sights, to see or equipment to bring is appreciated! Thanks.

Any roads to take across the western plains is gorgeous. I heard that it is cold up in the mountains so be prepared along with bdmpastx. Don't forget tools, flash light, plugs to fix a flat. Space is limited so bring what you can and make sure to gas up frequently and have 2 gallon of spare fuel just in case.

If you are spending a day in/near Roswell and are even considering camping, go about 12 miles out and stay at Bottomless Lakes State Park. Skip the gravel area near the big entrance and camp up near the overlook. You'll love it and it's cheap.

I've got road recomendations out in AZ and NM too - if you're interested, PM me. Got GPS?

Yup, have heard great things about the Coronado trail from Clifton to Alpine, AZ - but I only got 4 miles into it before I panicked and had to be brought back down on the back of my own bike (I'm afraid of heights)

Another one through southern NM that I can't remember right now - I've got the maps from last year's trip at home.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will be checking out those roads, and there were a lot of good ideas as far as what to bring. We will be using motels this trip, although in the future I would like to do a trip camping, although I would make it shorter I think. As far as round trip, goes not sure, but I am just taking it to san fran and flying back. My friend will be there for about 30 days, and then another friend of mine will fly up there and ride it back. The closer it gets the more excited I get although I have seen the Grand Canyon and Roswell before, look forward to it again, and never been to Las Vegas or any part of california. On the map Highway 1 looks like it will be breathtaking ride! Later
