Kind of you off when you consider they arrested every single biker there that had a vest on, regardless if they were involved or not.
Every one of them are being processed and held on $1M bail if the press reports are accurate.
Guilt by association.
It's no different than arresting every sport bike rider at PP1 when a group of sport bikes run from LEO....

Is there an echo in here?

This is a case of probably 15-20 guys.
Don't forget, some of the dead and wounded were shot by police, possibly by mistake.
Not saying what happened is right, but it's being way overblown by the press, and I guarantee the police dept. has a public relations nightmare on it's hands if it's determined that even one of the injured or killed bikers were minding their own business.
PR? I would say legal nightmare. I bet that there will be multiple suits filed saying that some killed weren't involved and the police were trigger happy.

Does that mean that this story does not deserve all this coverage, or that the media shouldn't report what they are being told by police and witnesses?

It is pretty up that so many were arrested. 100,000.00 to get out of jail to beat a BS charge is a hefty amount

Oh... The "free country" line now... What you have just described is a much different situation than knowingly being associated with criminals and thugs.

I should clarify. When I said "media spin", I was referring to the outlets not driven by commercials, ad media money and corporate interests. Agingrebel is more of an "independent media" type of site without money motivating what they write.

Most traditional media is ran by readership which helps justify ad revenue. "If it bleeds, it leads."

It means that common sense reporting should be used.
The event is on the COC calender. It had been promoted throughout the local motorcycling community in advance. Many of the attending members are not members of the Bandidos or Cossacks which is who the fight is between.
Common sense would have it that 170 people, or even the majority of them, were involved in the melee.

Oh wait, did I just use common sense and news reporting in the same sentence?
Hype and half assed information is much more common nowadays....

Pretty sure the cops fired the first shots, blamed it on the bikers, and then planted a bunch of "throwdown" weapons

No . A group doesn't get labeled as a Tier II threat by donating to Locks of Love or helping old ladies with their groceries.

Were there some criminals there?
Sure.
No different than almost ANY bar on a Saturday night.
Should everyone that's in a bar after a shooting or a fight be arrested?
The jails are going to get awful full, awful fast.
Detain, question and then release if no probable cause.
That's how our system is supposed to work, not incarcerate with a $1M fine and let the courts sort it out.

I think they were all arrested for organized crime affiliation. Very hard to argue against that given the groups involved, and it lets PD keep them under lock and key until they can sift through to the shooters.

Really confused. So the number of arrests shouldn't be reported?

Mark,
You're intentionally being obtuse.
It means that the reporting blatantly omits some facts that help make it appear as though 170 biker gang members participated in a shoot out.
I'm curious to see how many of the dead and wounded were from shots fired by the police and how many were from the "gang members".....
