No wonder the media is so screwed up.
I didn't suggest they try to verify the threat, I was suggesting they verify sources. Maybe they could try to verify if a threat had even been made. Maybe try finding a credible source of their own instead of just regurgitating a press release.
But, I guess that would require actual journalism work and let's be real. That hadn't existed in a long time. It's so much more efficient for selling advertising to just pick the most outrageous claims and make a headline.

It wasn't a press release. It was a DPS bulletin issued to multiple agencies. Don't kid yourself, you'll never trust "the news" no matter what.

Press release, bulletin... that's not the point. The point is, since you don't seem to be getting it or you're once again trolling, that they did no fact checking. They just put it out there even though it contains quite a collection of questionable claims.
Ask yourself,"Why didn't they try to verify any of that" and "If they did try to verify, why didn't they mention the dead ends they ran into"?

That's not true, I'm perfectly willing to trust the news. Just as soon as they start reporting it in an informative unbiased manner... like they claim they do now.
Keep being slanted and "revenue above all else" motivated and IMHO, nobody should trust the news. The media has forgotten that it's duty to inform without bias is the most important function it serves. It's crucial to the well being of the country.

The point you don't seem to be getting is that the story is the bulletin itself. That's where it ends unless the threats are actually carried out. Do you consider an outlaw gang member as a credible source? Do you think one would actually go on camera and admit they planned to commit murder? Come on now.

You're wrong about all the media just as any person that lumps all bikers or all minorities together.

Some folks just love a good conspiracy

I haven't suggested that anybody is going to do a preemptive confession and I never suggested that a bike gang member is a credible source.
The bulletin is the story because the media makes it the story. That's not where it ends. The media should question EVERYTHING, not just report some stuff that a governmental agency spews out and call it done.
What kind of journalism is that?
"Well, the DPS said, blah blah blah, so that's the whole story, we're finished with that one! Let's see what Al Gore is saying about global warming".

Is that all we should expect from the public's only widespread source of information?

Who in the media should we trust implicitly? What outlet has gone above and beyond to show they are fair and unbiased. Which network doesn't slant the out things, primarily for their own interest in selling commercials?

There's no way in the media is ever going to convince YOU (bumblebee) to trust any government agency.

You (bevo) have no idea what I trust or don't except my stated distrust of the slanted, money hungry, liberal biased media.

Intersting that people pay money for premium TV / movie channels because they can clearly see that what comes across the "free" networks sucks.

But when it comes to news lots of people go back to those channels without thinking twice about it.... Better to pay for a newspaper subscription yourself than letting someone else pay the bill for what they want to be heard.

Anyway the intersting thing here is the Bill of rights angle is being overlooked.

Freedom to peaceable assemble, right to form a mallitia, protection from excessive bail, search and seizure without warrants, and every other applicable article so far in this has been cast aside.

Where's the ACLU at on this, any complaints about profiling or persons being grouped by identity as guilty before innocent?
