FYI Ch2 just ran story on air that there's a planned biker protest march Sat 5/23 in Waco. I think they said at the jail(how convenient), or could have been courthouse. They're over 3 innocents arrested.

Guy that's promoting protest claims Waco police said they're welcome to protest if they're peaceful. (Just hope no hothead fires a gun, everybody will be in jail for a few weeks).

They report this stuff because it comes from a supposedly valid source and it's controversial. The media loves to pander to the public's fears, make things seem as bad as possible because it helps them sell advertising. Let's be real, THAT'S why the news media exists... to sell commercial advertising, not to inform the public.

WACO - State investigators have issued a bulletin warning that members of the Bandidos motorcycle gang may be plotting attacks on law enforcement, and law officers in Waco say it's being treated as a serious threat.

McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara says his office received the bulletin Friday issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety. McNamara says the bulletin warns of retaliation against officers and their families following a shootout with bikers in Waco that left nine dead, 18 injured and 170 jailed.

McNamara says threats against law enforcement have streamed in since Sunday's melee at a restaurant in Waco, though some are more plausible than others.

He says, "Are they going to come into town at 100 miles per hour lobbing grenades and firebombs? Right now, we don't know." drama queen much?

Sarcasm noted.
Maybe they could call the DPS and ask a few questions. Surely they have a spokesperson that could give some details on why they issued the bulletin and how credible the threats are.
Instead they rush to put it out with no other info.
Why?
Maybe because it's scary and scary news makes people pay attention to what the media is saying. It's just icing on the cake that they can watch more commercials while they wait for the next update... right?

Obviously you know the media, especially local tv news inside and out. I got nothing

Phone calls are easy peasy. Getting someone to pick up and then actually respond, not so much. Maybe DPS will take your calls.

You can see bullet holes in the customer vehicles in the Don Carlos parking lot.
I wouldn't be surprised that those vehicles were hit, but that pic is pretty lame

Which is a disingenuous statement at best because all they need to do is authorize the restaurant to release the video, and the public can decide for ourselves.
Unless there's a court order against it, I'm pretty sure the restaurant can show and release the video to whoever they wish. Maybe the "writer" should become a member of the AP so they could have watched the video and judged for himself

Maybe he doesn't want to be part of your club.....

That said, at least he's asking some pointed questions instead of regurgitating what's being said by authorities, unlike AP reporters.

That would be commentary and if they chose to give their personal views, they wouldn't author it under a name like "sundance"

I think the AP reporters watched the surveillance video and described what they saw, they also looked up the any criminal records of those arrested. Yeah, AP reporters pretty much suck

Again sarcasm noted. Do you ever respond without it?
Maybe they shouldn't report it until they verify. Is it really news if it's unverified?

Because there's absolutely no down side for the media on this. Even if the information about the threat turns out to be completely false, they get to fall back on, "Well, we were just reporting what we were told by PD." If there's not a single act of violence carried out as predicted by the report, they get to run the headline, "Heightened police vigilance prevented a massacre," even if the threat wasn't real in the first place.

Small turnout:
WACO (May 23, 2015) A group of bikers from around the state gathered Saturday outside of the McLennan County Courthouse to protest the arrests of 170 bikers after a deadly shootout at a Waco restaurant, saying that many of those now jailed are guilty of nothing more than being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“They’re out here today to bring awareness that there’s probably motorcyclists in jail right now that haven’t done anything more than just ride a motorcycle,” said protester Ferrell Surtte.

The two-dozen protesters, who came from as far away as Houston and San Antonio, were not affiliated with any particular motorcycle club.
