The plot thickens and I guess the DPS is using the TP incident as an excuse to detain anyone riding a motorcycle. There's no way Bandidos MC will engage in what DPS is saying! Total bullshit. The last thing they want is to attract the attention of the police. the DPS is bullshiting about this.

http://kxan.com/2015/05/21/dps-biker...target-police/

Quote:
AUSTIN (KXAN) – Outlaw biker gangs plan to arm themselves with explosives and target police officers in Texas, according to a bulletin sent out by the Department of Public Safety. The alert, which warns police agencies from Austin to North Texas to watch out, comes just days after a biker-gang brawl in Waco left nine people dead.

Citing an unnamed informant, DPS said members of the Bandidos Motorcycle Club who are in the military are supplying the gang with grenades and C-4 explosives.

The bulletin said the gangs are “plotting to target high-ranking law enforcement officials with car bombs.” It goes on to say the members will try to run over officers at traffic stops or use grenades and Molotov cocktails.

The memo directly contradicts what a leader of the Bandidos told KXAN.

“How long do you think the Bandidos motorcycle organization would last if we went out shooting at cops?” asked Jimmy Graves, national officer of the Bandidos. “President Obama himself would send out the Air Force, the Army, the Marine Corps and everybody and take us out. There’s no way. We respect the police for doing their job.”

Yeah, I agree it sounds a little fishy.

Time to strap on the tinfoil,

Yeah, grenades and C4 are really easy to just give away if you're in the military.

That is the most poorly written and grossly ridiculous article yet, almost reads as satire. I don't have time to look at the source but that's complete bullshit.

Should the media not report it?

What the media should do is investigate not regurgitate. Maybe they should question the DPS and verify why this is being said. If it sounds like BS to us it should sound a little suspect to the media as well.
They report this stuff because it comes from a supposedly valid source and it's controversial. The media loves to pander to the public's fears, make things seem as bad as possible because it helps them sell advertising. Let's be real, THAT'S why the news media exists... to sell commercial advertising, not to inform the public.

Well if the White House released a statement saying "I'm sending 10 billion troops to Texas to kick some " should the media not report it if they can't get an interview?

The media reported it because the DPS released a statement. No one from DPS held a press conference.
