KTMs 1290 Super Duke GT an even better look

A better better view of KTMs secret 1290 Super Duke Rbased tourer

KTMs 1290 Super Duke GT an even better look

THE rate spy shots are emerging of this bike, we think KTM testers might be chasing the photographers.

Yes, here’s another shot of KTM’s forthcoming 1290 Super Duke GT, a tourer based on the Austrian firm’s 180hp naked bike, the 1290 Super Duke R, using the same 1301cc V-twin engine.

We saw the 1290 Super Duke GT only yesterday, in a shot taken by a spy photographer near a KTM testing facility in Spain, but this new photo gives a better-still view of the 2016 model.

As predicted, it appears to share its main frame with the 1290 Super Duke R, while the subframe has been beefed up to support luggage and create space for a bigger pillion seat.

The new shot shows how tall the screen is and how the nose swoops downward in a point at the headlight.

We can also better see the higher bars which have been added to give the GT a more upright riding position for touring.

Elsewhere, many components appear to be shared with the Super Duke R, including the wheels, brakes and forks.

The new model will effectively make a successor to the 990 SMT, a touring version of the discontinued 990 Supermoto.

Expect an official unveiling this autumn.
