Well, got laid off....

So I got laid off a couple of weeks ago. With not much to do I decided to take the bike for a spin. I hit up Miller Motorsports park in Utah. A few pics I am too cheap to buy

After I got back from that I took it for a trip through Utah. My original plan was for an overnight hike in Zion National Park through the Narrows. The rain put an end to that idea due to flash flood warnings and a road being impassable to 4x4s that I needed for a shuttle. So I did a day hike and cruised around the rest of the state.

My route

And a few pics from the ride. I got rained on at least once every day and even got snowed on going into Brian Head, Ut but that was over 10k'.

Having no job has it's perks for sure. End of this month I am packing up my XR650R and heading to Baja with a buddy who has a place down there.

Sorry to hear of the job situation, bud. On the bright side, you're getting to enjoy some pretty cool stuff now. Awesome pictures and I enjoyed the thread.

Whenever you come back to Texas, let me know. Would love to have a beer with you again sometime.

Be good, dude!

Sorry to hear about the job but I can honestly say I'm a bit jelly of your trip. I'm planning a trip to the four corners area later this year and was looking forward to Utah the most. You just boosted my excitement. Baja should be sweet. I hope to be racing down that way by the end of the year. Have fun, Enjoy, and ride safe.

It was a bit different track day than what I was used to in Texas. I rode B group and it was basically just an open track day. No sighting lap or instructions or anything. So new track for me and a big heavy bike with sport touring tires that I hadn't tracked...I didn't push it much, that thing is too fast for how heavy it is.

And as far as being laid off. I am loving it! I have another trip planned this summer to head from here up through Glacier NP towards Banff then back around through Seattle and across the Cascades then back through Idaho.

I've had it since about last June. I was actually in Texas for my layoff for a day. They flew me from Wyoming to Houston, just to lay me off. I'd have been fine with a phone a call.

Tank bag is

and tail bag is an old Cortech that they don't sell anymore I don't think.

Edit: Looks almost exactly like this bag
