More...and a video that supports their view...I know I wouldn't want that if I lived out there and I love going to the track.

I cant believe that there is not a 1000 acres somewhere that would not be a better location. I'm all for the track...any track but fighting with the 'hood is bad form.

That area has some great elevation changes. It would be an awesome location for a track.

Pig - Yes...I would rather go somewhere where I do not have to worry about sound levels. I've been to many tracks that have them and its a pain in the ...ss unless you are running a stock exhaust. I use to run Formula cars and there is no such thing a stock exhaust and we would blow the SLM all the time and get DQ and asked not to come back. Neighbors and race tracks do not go well with each other, and that's a fact jack!

There has to be other locations that have elevation in TX and on a 1000 acres.

Well, ya had to know there would be a fight on one's hands building such a project in those parts.

I know where 658 Ac. that is listed for sale. It sits along I-45 north bound just 3 miles north of Hwy 30. It boarders the interstate so ingress / egress would be of no problem. Besides, with all of the commercial growth going on in the Huntsville area it might be possible the local city government would support a tax abatement for such a venue.

Sam Houston Raceway Park has a nice ring.

The un-restricted, private property thing always turns into a fight. Such is the case as the Splendora MX track for example.

If you were a rich guy that owned a couple hundred acres with a nice house and a few horses in the pasture you wouldn't want somebody to come in and build a racetrack a mile or 2 away. You'd think, " no, I like it nice and quiet with little traffic on this old farm to market road".
It's not his land. Rich guy should have bought the land if he wanted control over it.

Houston has plenty of noise. I used to live under hobby airport and those big jets taking off is way louder than a track, plus its overhead...

Read up on Denver Stapleton airport.
Cliff's notes:
Used to be THE airport for Denver.
Neighborhood built up right next to it.
Neighborhood complained of noise.
Airport closed, new airport built farther out of town at HUGE taxpayer expense.

You can say it's wrong, and I'll agree but I bet you there will never be a racetrack in the Chappell Hill area.

Why don't they just finish the MotoGP track in Liberty? Didn't they break ground there like, ten years ago?

The point I was making is, when enough people, with enough political power stand up against things they don't like, they usually win. Even if it doesn't make sense.
In the case of the Denver airport, the ones raising weren't wealthy or powerful but there was a lot of them. And they got the airport moved. The needing more growth angle was a smoke screen to keep everybody else happy.
In the case of the proposed track there probably aren't as many but they are wealthier and more powerful.

The Austin thing is due to the fact they had a nearly abandoned airforce base. They didn't have to constrict a whole new airport just new terminals. Why not go for the upgrade when the gubment made it cheap and easy?

PIG !!!!!! BS is that all you got. Do your homework. Laguna has been around since 1957. My first visit there was in 1969 an have been back to that place , I have lost count. I doubt you are as well traveled as I'm and the hundreds of tracks I have either been to or raced on. There was not a country club built near the track at that time. Laguna has always been the draw to that part of the world since it was built. Promotion of racing was then a grand stand event. People excepted the track for what it stood for and has since then.

The Huntsville suggestion is exactly what it is.

If you got a problem with that then just cough up the cash and go build a venue yourself. I could sit here and cut you to pieces but I have too much respect for the people who support the racing community. Don't jabber out garbage you know nothing of. Laguna was developed first. Everything around it was built after the track.

Have a good day.

You're an idiot. Obviously you don't know who "Gateman" is, or what good he has brought to the racing community. Definitely one of the better people in this sport. Man has a real passion for racing.

I remember him from my motorcross days @ Highlands mx and him mentioning to me and many other racers who currently race now with cmra/Moto America about road racing.

Again, you're an idiot. Stick to pigs and stay away from motorcycles, douche.
