RACE cars tend to much worse offenders than bikes in terms pure SPL's but bikes tend to rev much higher with smaller pistons producing higher pitch sounds. I had the opportunity to corner work a few races at Laguna and they love trees and lizards more than people out there for sure. They have strict noise limits in place and have a guy with an SPL meter whose job is nothing but monitoring SPL down the front straight.

If they can have SPL limits in WSBK, and MotoGP, I don't see why we can't compromise on it with the locals. Its either run your exhaust how you wont on the street or follow the rules on the track. Simple.

It would be simple except, I don't think you'd ever get that far with the locals. I think they will vote "No" before there is any promise of noise level enforcement.
If you were a rich guy that owned a couple hundred acres with a nice house and a few horses in the pasture you wouldn't want somebody to come in and build a racetrack a mile or 2 away. You'd think, " no, I like it nice and quiet with little traffic on this old farm to market road".

Because TWS (Texas World Speedway) is solely responsible for the property value increases in that area, of course. When it's gone, no one will want to live there anymore. Even with the condemned grandstands, it was the only thing keeping that area afloat.

i highly doubt people lived there because of the track. When i was there for race weekends and let people know i was there for a race they didnt even know the track was open or others would say what track lol

Aren't they closing it to build a huge residential development with commercial sites. Surely if TWS (Texas World Speedway) was improving property values so would the new development. I highly doubt it was improving property values anyway.

yes and he would hold up a sarcasm sign if he could at the end of his post if he could. I'm sure a year of TWS (Texas World Speedway) operations brings very little to the CS economy....say compared to one A&M football game.

The real question, and the one in the petition, is do they even get a vote? It's private property, it's not zoned against having a track, other than pitching a FB , and putting up signs.........what can they do?

Don't know but don't confuse Chappell Hill with College Station. There's a lot of money out around there and people who have money and power can do things me and you (or at least me) can't.

Maybe they have to get approval from the county to build on it? Apply for permits?

Here's an article from February
Quote:
County Judge John Brieden said he's heard plenty from people about the track, and that those opposed to it are the loudest.

"I can't go to the restaurant, I can't go to the grocery store, without folks coming up and wanting to talk about it," he said. "It has gotten to be a big, big thing."

Among the challenges, he said, is that Chappell Hill is unincorporated - so there are no local ordinances - and commissioners don't have the authority to simply rule whether a track should be allowed here.
Quote:
Among the plaintiffs are Houston lawyer Charles Fridge and his family, who own 650 acres and reside on land adjacent to the proposed track, and Helen Philips, a veterinarian who planned on building her dream home on a 40-acre plot also beside property eyed for the race track.

"I can walk out of my house, and I will not only be able to hear the race track, but feel the race track and see the race track," Philips said. "My fence line is literally their fence line."

"I didn't move to Chappell Hill to build a home to have a race track next door," she said.

Why is that people who have the ability to amass so many dollars seem so devoid of all sense?

It's private property with no restrictions.
By law, they should be able to do what they want with the land they purchase.
It is their land.
