Long trip for me...maybe?

Moto Houstonians,

Alright, here's the thing. I scheduled time off from work and it begins July 5 - July 9th. I don't have a car, but had already made plans to drive to my mom's house (who I have not seen in almost 2 years) outside of Chattanooga, TN. I still don't have a car and haven't really looked much. I'm thinking about riding my bike to her house. Its roughly 900 miles. What do you guys think?

Any tips? Advice? What should I use to carry minimal luggage for a few days?

any help is appreciated greatly,

Brandon

rent a car or else you will be crazy sore. But if you do ride, get a camel bak to keep some fluids in ya and stop and stretch freqently!! But before you go get everything on your bike checked and make sure you will be ok for the ride their and back. Don't forget a camera to stop and take some cool pics on your way.

Well, If I do decide to go, I will get everything inspected by Patrick, I can trust his work, unlike other shops, who knows what they do/don't do

Regardless of how far your tank goes, stop every 100 miles or so to top off the tank and hop off the bike for a stretch. It'll seem like overkill at first, but five minutes here and there goes a long way toward more comfortable days in the saddle.

You won't make 900 miles in a day. Get as far as you can on day 1 (start out early to beat the heat) and when you feel like you *might* be getting tired, call it a day. Eat a meal and get a FULL night's sleep at a cheap motel and get up early the next day for the whatever mileage is left.

+1 on the Camelbak. MUST.STAY.HYDRATED.

See, if it was me I'd be asking which roads to hit there and back...

I got a better idea.

Trade bikes with Sparky here ^. On her bike you can do 250 miles easy before stopping (comfort or gas wise). Its a f@cking sofa compared to your stock GSXR seat.

You get to get there safely and comfy.

She gets to ride an SS bike (which she soo wants to )!

I've rode back and forth many times, so I know the way... I just don't have a car/truck anymore. ;( But, in a car, I could do it in 12-14 hours

When I ride long distance by myself I stop at the top of every hour..gives you something to look forward to. Just stop. Top off the tank, grab a snack, drink, stretch your legs. Your looking at 3-4 days of travel for the whole trip. Might just wanna rent a car, or borrow one from a friend???

You will not want to plan on pushing it over 400 miles. Last one that long I did I was getting off the bike every 30 miles for the last 90 miles just to get the blood flowing again.
