You can't do that loop in one day and have real fun.

I guess that depends on your definition of fun. When I go out there, it's to ride...not look at scenery. You can put down a lot of miles quick if you're not sightseeing. I try to get in 700+ miles in two days every time I go. I like to think of it as an endurance sprint.

I challenge you to a race.
I'll wear leathers and you don't.
We both crash.
The bet is, I can cool off faster than you can heal up.
$5?

Just went 2 weeks ago, I stayed here http://threesisterslodging.com Watch out for the cops if you take 337 east of Leakey, didn't see any on the sisters other than that. 16 was a great ride also just depending on how much time you have. We rode from 8 am until 8 pm and I was exhausted. Deer everywhere especially early morning and late afternoon so keep that in mind.

If you leave from Kerrville it would it would be about 5-6 hours ride including lunch. I would plan to add a couple hours to the ride if you leave from San Antonio.

I always wear leather jacket, knee protection, Kevlar jeans, and boots.

You can always jump in the river for a couple hours after the loop/ lunch at pecan farms. Me and a buddy did this a few times.. Just pack your suit in a back pack. Lol

Went up there for the first time this last weekend. I did it in a day trip. Woke up at 3am loaded the bike and drove to Kerrville to meet my friends. Got there around 8:30. Finished up around 5pm and headed back...was not a bad trip at all.

I was offering to bet him that I could cool off from wearing proper gear faster than he could heal from injuries caused by not wearing gear.
THAT was the "tongue in cheek" race we were taking about.
I'm thinking Forrest Gump was right.
