Mazda Speed 3 Wagon opinions wanted

i decided the FJCruiser is not for me(biggest blind spot i have ever seen:confused1 ) and have really been leaning toward the 2007 mazda speed3 wagon. do any of you have any experience with this car or any opinions on the small mazda's in general i should be aware of before i snag one of these? it seems like the best bang for the buck!?!? please share any thoughts you may have, as always, I'm all ears

OOOoh, I love this car. It is pure fun to drive. I call it Pocket Hatchrocket. If I was gonna by a car today, this would be it.

Here is what I had written about it on my myspace blog

16:03 - Mazda Test Drive
Category: Automotive

I test drove three Mazda's today: Mazda 3, RX8 and Mazdaspeed 3. My goals were economic fun. My dealer of choice was Joe Meyers Mazda on Hwy290 and Beltway 8.

I started out with the Mazda 3 with hatchback and really liked the Sport Automatic. For more performance, I then testdrove the RX8 and enjoyed the torque. It is definitely a luxurious sportscar without being too much. The rear wheel drive was only available on the RX8. Missing the hatchback, I was then introduced to the Mazdaspeed and fell in love with it. As the salesguy said "With this you can have a pocket rocket and a crotchrocket."

The brochures are informative but the salesperson didn't have a businesscard. His newsletter had his name, but didn't identify Joe Meyers except for once buried in the personal letter to the customers.

In addition, I made note of how they treated women and prospective buyers not willing to buy that day, and expressing that. I had read an article this week where car dealerships were critized when trying to build relationships with women for future purchases. I was positively impressed with Joe Meyers's sales person and his manager. They treated me fairly, didn't pressure me at all, let me test drive all the vehicles I had an eye on and in the end, we were talking about trackdays and motorcycles. Fun, fun! I am now hooked on the Mazdaspeed3. As the well-made brochure states" if you're the type who appreciates a pocket rocket that can make your spine tingle..." and yes, I appreciated it. Zoom, Zoom.

I'm too lazy to search, post a link, and explain why it would be a better car than the speed 3. Keep in mind I'm 6' tall and i can't fit in a tiny car:eh:

faylaricia, i haven't even driven the car yet, but all of my research yields positive results. I'm going to do some test driving this afternoon, rain or shine. Thank you for your input.

Get ready to have fun! Even my sales person had fun as according to him "He hasn't seen anyone drive like that in a while... " :laughing6

Oh, and I told the sales person that I had already looked at the GTI and it just put a bit of pressure on him :icon_bigg *wink*

I'm 6'3 and I own one. lol.

AWD, Turbocharged, 240HP, and AMAZING cornering. Fun as to drive on any surface. Rain, Shine, Snow, or Hail. I'd pimp it!

we test drove and tried to buy one a while back for my wife, not sure if it was the mazdaspeed 3 or just the mazda 3.......nice car, great features for the money.....they just could make the deal work with our trade so we ended up getting something that cost more.

It's funny that you mention that^^^especially considering i was just looking at the WRX's this morning. I'm not a car guy by any means, but since I'm done with 2 wheels(riding at least), i may as well get a car i can with. I probably wouldn't mod it much, i'm just considering longevity here. I'll probably drive the car daily for the next ten years, just as i did with the truck i'm replacing. thanks for the input

I never driven a WRX but they are supernice cars. Just remember, they cost almost 5 - 10 Grant more than a Mazdaspeed3.

I'm not looking at the STI, just the base model WRX. MSRP is under 25K, and it seems as if no one wants to deal with me on the Speed3 since only 5000 will be sent to north america

I wanted to wait a bit after I get my truck paid off this month and then see. It is real torture though because there is a guy here at work whose Mazdaspeed 3 I walk by on a regular basis... Such a cool little pocket hatch rockets. It is black too, just the color I want.
