as much as possible without shaving all the way down probably around 2"

Classic auto upolstry in Humble did a seat for me a few years back for around $30. But after that one time I did my own. Real easy to do as the others have said.

Na adjustment the forks go directly into the handlebars and no adjustment in the rear

Yea, I looked and the upholstery is stapled and doesn't look too difficult if you had the right tools for the job. Thanks for all of your input and I think I'll make a couple of calls.
