Day Trip Anyone on July 26 to Rockport

I am looking for other riders that want to make a day out of riding down to Rockport Texas. I am looking to head down there on a day trip just to get out and ride.

Looking to start at first light and drive down via the old Highway 35. We would leave central Houston, head through Alvin, through Bay City, Port Lavaca, then get into Rockport. Have some lunch and pick up other riders on the way if possible.

The mileage one way from Houston to Rockport is just at 200. The ride via the old Highway will give us a one lane road most of the way but without the hustle of the major highway. On the return from Rockport we can take 77/59 (major highway) back into Houston via Victoria and a couple other small towns.

So the goal is a day trip with an estimated total mileage of around 500.

I have looked around the Texas area and don't see anything really going on that day so I figures a smooth day trip would be worth a try.

This of course being a couple weeks before Sturgis weekend August 3-9th... Sadly I cannot make it that weekend... But I would love to...

Regards,

Keith

I'd be a lot more inclined to make that ride if it weren't the hottest part of the year.

Very True but living in Houston sitting on a bike in traffic is worse just about any given day in the summer. I welcome the weight loss due to heat... LOL

Thanks for the comment also.

All bike types are welcome. So you are for sure welcome if you want to go on a day trip. Yes I will be on my busa. My good friends and riding buddy has a Harley but sadley he lost two fingers on his left hand (first and middle) so he does not yet ride or there would be for sure a Harley and a busa side by side.
